Announcing its intentions to intensify the crackdown on sham and forced marriages, the UK Border Agency has asserted that its new consultation will define more clearly what constitutes a genuine and continuing marriage.

The government made this clear as it announced its proposals to crackdown on sham and forced marriages, as part of a new consultation on better family migration.

The UKBA said: `The consultation focuses on stopping abuse, promoting integration and reducing burdens on the taxpayer.
