UKBA overburdened with applications for Tier 2 certificates of sponsorship

The UK Border Agency are experiencing high volumes of requests from sponsors who have applied to renew their allocation of certificates of sponsorship for the 2012/13 year.

The processing time for requests has therefore increased and sponsors may experience a short delay in receiving their new allocation.

The UK Border Agency said that they are working to reduce the delays and aim to have completed the majority of allocation requests, submitted before 6th April 2012, by Friday 4th May 2012.

“We are aware that some sponsors may require their allocation of certificates of sponsorship urgently, in order to allocate certificates of sponsorship to sponsored workers who need to extend their leave to remain in the UK,” the UK Border Agency said.

If you are sponsoring an overseas worker whose leave to remain expires on or before 4th May 2012 and who requires a certificates of sponsorship in order to make an in-country application to extend their leave, please email [email protected], enclosing details of the sponsored worker.

All other requests for certificates of sponsorship will be dealt with in date order, the UK Border Agency said.
