The assertion came along with the declaration that `the biometric enrolment centres in Australia will close on 23 December 2011 for the Christmas and New Year holidays, and will reopen on 4 January 2012’.

The border force said the visa processing hub in Manila, where Australian visa applications are processed, will also be closed during this time.

`If you require a visa to travel in December and January you are strongly advised to submit your application as soon as possible. We aim to process all non-settlement visa applications within 15 working days’, it said.

The UKBA added it was still unable to offer visa appointments at the biometric enrolment centre, following the earthquake in Christchurch. `We will be sending a mobile biometric enrolment unit to Christchurch until the new office is fully operational,’ it claimed.

The next mobile biometric clinics will be held at the Sudima Hotel, near the Christchurch airport, on 12 December 2011; 5 January 2012 and 26 January 2012

The border agency is also asking the applicants to book appointment online through the online application system. `You will need to bring your passport, application form and appointment letter to your appointment’.

You can email at [email protected] if you have any further queries.

If you need to make an appointment outside of these dates, biometric enrolment centres are also open in Auckland and Wellington on weekdays.
