On 3 July 2010, Miss Dominican Republic Mayte Brito Medina won the first ever edition of Miss Global Teen.
The pageant, which took place in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul – Brazil, saw 23 young ladies, between 15 and 19 years of age, competing as to serve as a role model for teenagers around the world.
Misses Egypt, Tara Emad was 1st runner-up); Canada’s Chelsae Durocher was 2nd runner-up; Belgium, Kathleen Luyts came as 3rd runner-up.
19-year-old Mayte Brito Medina said. "I still cannot believe it. I am very excited and proud, my country will go wild!"
Miss Global Teen 2010 won a cash prize of USD 5.000, jewelry, and a replica of the pageant’s official crown, designed by Tiago Seixas.
