Afro News scoops Best Community Newspaper Award at BEFFTA Awards

Long: “All the nominees and winners deserved to be celebrated”

afronews-novcover.jpg4th November 2010: Our newspaper, The Afro News, has won the Best Community Newspaper Award at the 2nd Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television and Arts (BEFFTA) Awards ceremony in London.

The glitzy ceremony held at the Central Hall Westminster, was attended by a host of African, Caribbean and Asian personalities.

The prestigious BEFFTA Awards celebrate and reward the achievements of the known and unknown black personalities.

BEFFTA Awards also aim at promoting and creating awareness of unrecognised great talent.

Some of this year’s winners are: Hayley Cassidy, Lil P, Bang radio, Wunmi Mosaku, Shoggy Tosh, Eddie Kadi, Kenneth Asia, Adebayo Jones, IntStyles Models and artist management, Miss Southern Africa UK, Fernanda Kanyando, Flavia Mbazimba, and Justina Mutale.

Ms. Pauline Long, the founder of BEFFTA Awards said:  “We are proud to have made it to the second year and are grateful for the immense support from the general public. All the nominees and winners deserved to be celebrated on the night for their contribution in their chosen fields of work.”
