Missing tailor’s body recovered from River Thames

Police have confirmed that the body recovered from the River Thames is that of the 74 year old Harry Bhageerutty.

The body was recovered near Hutchings Street, London, E14 on 19th June 2012.

Mr Bhageerutty had not been seen or spoken to since leaving his home address in Galpins Road, Thornton Heath at about 19:00hrs on Tuesday 12th June 2012.

He worked as a tailor in Saville Row, Central London.

A post-mortem examination on 20th June at Popular Mortuary gave the cause of death as drowning.

An inquest will open in due course.

Officers from Merton Borough continue to make enquiries to establish Mr Bhageerutty’s movements prior to his death.
