Polish pedestrian killed in fatal collision in Shepherds Bush

The police is awaiting formal identification a Polish national killed in a road mishap in Shepherds Bush; and is appealing for witnesses to the traffic collision.

MPS Press Bureau said: `We believe we know the identity of the deceased, who was a Polish national living in this country, but await formal identification and all next of kin to be made aware’.

The incident took place on Friday 20 January at 18:55hrs in Ariel Way W12, when the pedestrian was involved in collision with a double-decker bus.

The 56 year old from South Tottenham N15 was treated at the scene by both police and the London Ambulance Service. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital but died the following day.

A post-mortem is due to take place at Fulham Mortuary on 25 January.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene; and there has been no arrest.

Leading the investigation, DS Jeff Edwards said: "I am grateful to the number of people who stopped at the scene to assist that night.

“This stretch of road was fairly busy with commuters at the time and I would urge anyone who may have seen the collision or the moments leading up to it to contact police."

The Coroner has been informed and an inquest will open and adjourned in due course.
