West Midlands lawyer nominated for Rising Star Award at Asian Business Awards

A leading West Midlands lawyer Suki Chhokar has been nominated for a prestigious Asian Business Award.

The annual English Asian Business Awards celebrates and showcases the achievements of Asian men and women who greatly contribute to their industry.

Mr. Chhokar, a Partner in the specialist travel law team at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, has been nominated for the ‘Rising Star’ award which recognises a dedicated individual who works within a business to maximise opportunities and strategically help the business move forward and gain competitive advantage.
Mr. Suki specialises in international travel litigation and primarily deals with group actions against UK tour operators, or legal action against defendants in foreign countries working with other organisations abroad.
He is regularly asked to comment in the national and regional media on travel law issues and his team currently handles in excess of 2,000 clients with a wide range of different illness cases. He has worked on some of largest holiday illness claims in the UK and has recovered millions of pounds in settlements for clients whose holidays were ruined by illness.
Mr. Suki, who lives in Wolverhampton, said: “At Irwin Mitchell we are one of the leaders in our industry in actively promoting diversity amongst our workforce and we are proud of our social responsibility programmes as well as our legal expertise.
“It’s an honour to be recognised for this award. I pride myself on ensuring that my team is focussed on each and every single one of our clients to achieve the best results for them on a daily basis. We are constantly pushing the boundaries and strive to be innovative so it is great to be highlighted as someone making a difference in the business world.”
The awards ceremony will take place at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly hotel on 30th September 2013.
