Demo in Birmingham against G4S

Stop G4S has organised a demo against G4S in Birmingham. The demo will take place on 27th March 2012 from 12:30 to 14:00 at 5 Stone Rd, Birmingham, B15 2HH.

Stop G4S says that G4S, the largest global security firm, worth billions of pounds, is building its forces in Birmingham and the West Midlands, as well as throughout the UK.

The security firm “is responsible for everything from managing benefits to housing, detaining and deporting asylum seekers and migrants, killing Jimmy Mubenga in the process of forcibly deporting him in 2010. The murderous guards remain uncharged suspects, out on bail since the incident.”

The next bail hearing will be on 28th March 2012, just days after G4S won a £203m deal from the UK Border Agency to house and transport asylum seekers in the Midlands, the East of England and the North East.

According to Stop G4S, “G4S is also making a bid for the police privatization contracts. Abroad they are responsible for private prisons and security for private corporations, mines, sweatshops, for international airports, and the list goes on.”

“Join us in an appropriate welcome of these murderous profiteers in their newest acquisition of migrant control, outside of the home on Stone Road where asylum seekers live, awaiting their decision,” Stop G4S says.
