First UK solo exhibition of Taiwanese artist Wu Chi-Tsung

The first UK solo showcase of Taiwanese artist Wu Chi-Tsung will be held from 30th August to12th October 2013.

The exhibition is organized by the Chinese Arts Centre supported by the Taipei Representative Office.

Peter Scott Gallery (Lancaster) and Site Gallery (Sheffield), will also host the exhibition.

Collectively showing a range of previous and newly commissioned works, the partnership will offer a unique insight and perspective into the artists’ work and wider perspectives and trends of contemporary Chinese arts practice.

Chinese Arts Centre will be showcasing two key works by the artist, including a collection of cyanotypes from the series Wrinkled textures and a brand new commissioned installation, Crystal City 004. Both sets of work present two very different areas of interest for the artist, but both are inherently connected by his aspirations and fears for an ever changing world.

Wu Chi-Tsung’s work has been exhibited at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Seoul Museum of Art, South Korea, Experimenta in Melbourne, Australia and at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum to name but a few.

Chi-Tsung was one of the seven shortlisted artists for the prestigious Artes Mundi Wales International Visual Art Prize and The 2nd Techo Art Creation Project Award as part of the National Culture and Arts Foundation, Taipei.

Start Date: 30/08/2013
End Date: 12/10/2013
Venue: Chinese Art Centre, Market Buildings, Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1EU.
