“My Daughter’s Trial” is showing at Soho Theatre

Jabine Chaudri’s absorbing and fast moving new play, “My Daughter’s Trial” is now showing.

Kali Theatre in association with Soho Theatre present a site-specific production in the atmospheric former Westminster County Court, still preserved above Brown’s Restaurant in St Martin’s Lane.

Written by a barrister, the play features Parveen, an ambitious young Muslim barrister who will do anything to keep her clients from losing their liberty but she faces her own trial when she must decide whether to section her mentally ill mother against her family’s wishes.

As Parveen juggles her professional and personal responsibilities, the action switches back and forth between courtroom battle and domestic turmoil, made even more complicated when her opponent in court turns out to be the love of her life…

In this unusual theatrical event, audiences will sit in the court space alongside the actors as they witness the actions of both the defendant and Parveen, and must judge for themselves who is really on trial.

“My Daughter’s Trial” will also be presented in Birmingham, Southampton and Leicester.
