Two new documentaries from mainland China will be screened at the Riverside Studios as part of the Chinese Visual Festival in London.

One of the documentaries is “Little Proletarian” directed Shen Jie. It’s about a 14-year-old Hai who has been kicked out of school. A wild, harsh but also funny portrayal of Chinese teenage life.

The other documentary is “The Cold Winter” directed by Zheng Kuo. During one of Beijing's coldest winters, a group of artists struggle to save their studios from demolition, through vigilance, demonstrations and performance art. But when the long fight is over and there is compensation to be distributed, can the group remain united?
