Craze for cosmetic surgeries on a rise amidst the Britons

Demand for multi-ops up by 21 per cent in a year

27th October 2009: If you are a foreigner and know little about the craze for cosmetic surgeries amidst the Britons, it will come as a surprise to you, but the fad is on a rise in the UK.

The trend for cosmetic surgeries can be gauged from the fact the Britons are opting for surgery saver packages. It involves having up to four procedures at one go. The demand for multi-ops has, in fact, gone up by 21 per cent in the last one year.

The tummy tuck combined with liposuction is the most popular "package". A demand for a boob job coupled with liposuction is also high; there has been an increase of 40 per cent in its demand within a year.

But here’s the ugly side of beauty business. The health care experts believe multiple surgeries can cut costs up to nearly 6,000 pounds. But post operation complications and infections are dangerous to the extent of being fatal.
Available information suggests, the Brits are ignoring the risks.

The Sun quoted Vincenzo Giovinazzo, from Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, as saying patients have to be fit and healthy before we would even consider multiple operations.
