Check before you travel on 12th and 13th September

TfL urges all Londoners and Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR passengers to allow extra journey time where necessary.

5th September 2009: Check before you travel. Work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR on Saturday and Sunday 12 & 13 September 2009
 London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme.  The work will be undertaken by London Underground and Tube Lines. As such, TfL has urged all Londoners and Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR passengers to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.
 
London Underground
The Bakerloo line will be suspended on Sunday between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone stations, due to Network Rail engineering work.
A rail replacement bus service will operate between Queen’s Park and Wembley Central calling at all intermediate stations.
Late night passengers are advised to start their journeys at least 40 minutes earlier than normal in order to maintain last train connections
 On the Central line, Wanstead station will close early every evening, from 21:00, until mid-October 2009 to facilitate the continuation of the improvement works. Passengers should use nearby Leytonstone, Snaresbrook and Redbridge stations, which are approximately a 10-15 minute walk away.  Alternatively, regular bus services serve Wanstead station with the 66 and 145 bus routes following the Central line between Redbridge and Leytonstone stations. Valid London Underground tickets will be accepted on all local bus routes.
Circle and District line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use nearby Temple or Mansion House stations and/or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
The entire Circle line will be suspended all weekend for track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube routes.
The District line will be suspended between Tower Hill and Dagenham East all weekend and the Hammersmith & City line will be suspended between Liverpool Street and Barking all weekend for track replacement work. Trains will be diverted to start/end at Aldgate. Three replacement bus services will operate:
Service B: Between Tower Hill and Barking, calling at Tower Hill, Aldgate East, Whitechapel, Stepney Green, Mile End, Bow Road (for DLR connection at Bow Church), Bromley-by-Bow, Canning Town (for DLR connection), Upton Park and East Ham.
 Service C: Between Barking and Dagenham East, calling at Upney, Becontree and Dagenham Heathway.
Service D: Between Stratford and East Ham calling at Upton Park. This service operates from 09:00 until 21:00 hours only.
 
Passengers travelling between central London and West Ham, Barking and Upminster are advised to use c2c train services.
 
Customers travelling between central London and Elm Park, Hornchurch or Upminster Bridge are advised to use c2c train services travelling via Upminster.
 
Passengers travelling between central London and stations between Stepney Green and East Ham are advised to use DLR services from Bank/Tower Gateway interchanging at Bow Church or Canning Town, or use Central line services from Bank or Liverpool Street interchanging at Mile End or Stratford.
 
Customers travelling to/from Plaistow should use local buses to/from Stratford or Canning Town. Passengers travelling to/from West Ham should use the Jubilee line to/from Stratford or Canning Town.
 
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.
 
The Jubilee line will be suspended between Waterloo and Stanmore all weekend for line upgrade works. Use alternative Tube, local bus routes or the following replacement buses:
Service C: Stanmore – Canons Park – Queensbury – Kingsbury – Preston Road (for Metropolitan line) – Wembley Park
Service D: Wembley Park – Neasden – Dollis Hill – Willesden Green – Kilburn – West Hampstead – Finchley Road.
 
Passengers travelling between stations north of Willesden Green and central London are advised to take Rail Replacement Bus Service C or D changing at Wembley Park for the Metropolitan line.
 
The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Wembley Park and Uxbridge/Northwood all weekend. Chiltern Railways is also suspended between Amersham and Marylebone all weekend.
 
Rail replacement bus services operate:
Service A: Between Rayners Lane and Wembley Park, calling at North Harrow, West Harrow, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park and Preston Road
 Service B: Between Northwood and Wembley Park calling at Northwood Hills, Pinner, North Harrow, West Harrow and Harrow-on-the-Hill
Chiltern Railways hourly replacement bus service: Beaconsfield – Amersham
 
Passengers travelling between Uxbridge branch stations and central London are advised to use the Piccadilly line.
 
Passengers travelling between central London and Chiltern Railways destinations are advised to travel on Chiltern Railways services to/from Marylebone via Beaconsfield or Aylesbury.
 
Additionally the line is suspended between Moorgate and Aldgate. Use the Hammersmith & City line.
 
Hyde Park Corner station on the Piccadilly line will be closed after 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays and before 06:00 Mondays to Fridays until 30 October for station improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services.
 
Northern line trains will not be stopping at Clapham North and Tooting Bec stations from 22:00 every evening Sundays to Thursdays until 26 November because of station improvement works. Please use local bus routes.
 
Camden Town station on the Northern line will operate as exit and interchange only every weekend between12:00 noon and 16:30 until mid October because of escalator works. Please use nearby Mornington Crescent or Chalk Farm stations. Customers will be able to buy tickets at Camden Town during this time.
 
Colliers Wood station on the Northern line will be closing early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursday and before 06:00 Mondays to Fridays until 30 September for improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services to from Tooting Broadway or South Wimbledon.
 
The entire Victoria line is suspended this weekend for line upgrade works.
Rail replacement bus services operate:
Service A: Between Walthamstow Central and Finsbury Park calling at all intermediate stations and additionally at Manor House for the Piccadilly line.
Service B: Between Victoria and Brixton calling at all intermediate stations.
 
The Waterloo & City line has no planned work on Saturday. There is no Sunday service.
 
London Overground

London Overground services will suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday.  Passengers are advised to use the District line instead.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday only.  Replacement buses will run between Gunnersbury – Acton Central – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road (Underground) – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday.  Replacement buses, which will run between Hampstead Heath – Mansfield Road (for Gospel Oak) – Kentish Town West – Camden Road –  Highbury & Islington – Canonbury – Dalston Kingsland – Hackney Central – Homerton – Hackney Wick – Stratford.
 
Gospel Oak to Barking
London Overground will be suspended between South Tottenham and Barking on Saturday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses which will run between: South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Barking from 17:00 on Saturday and all day on Sunday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, which will run between: Gospel Oak –Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill –Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
 
London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Wembley Central and Queen’s Park. Replacement buses will run between: Wembley Central – Stonebridge Park – Harlesden – Willesden Junction – Queen’s Park.
London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Queen’s Park and Euston. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the following London Underground lines – Bakerloo line between Queen’s Park and Embankment; Northern line between Euston and Embankment; Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines between Baker Street and Euston Square.
 
London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on bus route 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and on the 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
 
Docklands Light Railway will be suspended between Poplar/Westferry and  Mudchute and between Blackwall and Beckton/London City Airport this weekend and between Stratford & Bow Church on Sunday only due to maintenance and Investment Programme works.

Replacement bus services will operate: Canary Wharf – London City Airport, via Westferry
* Island Gardens – Beckton, via Westferry
Westferry – Island Gardens
Stratford – Bow Church (Sunday 13 Sept)

The bus service will not stop at Heron Quays, West India Quay or Poplar, please use Canary Wharf and Westferry stations. A ticket or Oyster card valid on DLR is required before boarding the bus.

During this disruption train services will operate: Bank – Stratford (Saturday only)
Tower Gateway – Blackwall
London City Airport – Woolwich Arsenal
Mudchute – Lewisham
Bank – Bow Church (Sunday only)

London Tramlink will be carrying out some essential works on the tracks at Addiscombe first thing on Sunday morning 13 September, but it will be completed by 09.00.

 During this period there will be no service on lines 1 and 2 except between East Croydon and town centre tram stops. However, line 3 between New Addington and Wimbledon will run normally.

A special bus service will operate between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction serving Addiscombe, Blackhorse Lane, Arena, Elmers End, Birkbeck and Beckenham Road tram stops (or nearby). We regret it is not possible for buses to serve Harrington Road or Avenue Road tram stops.

Valid tram tickets will be accepted on these buses. Passengers will also be able to use Tramlink tickets on local buses.
