Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

Check before you travel on April 10 and April 11, Saturday and Sunday for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink on these days.

London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines.

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.TfL’s range of Travel Tools help passengers plan journeys, get travel information on the move and work out the safest way home www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools.

London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend. London Underground-The Bakerloo line will be suspended on Sunday between Paddington and Harrow & Wealdstone.

London Overground services are suspended between Queen’s Park and Stonebridge Park. A rail replacement bus service will operates between Stonebridge Park and Paddington calling at Harlesden, Willesden Junction, Kensal Green, Queen’s Park, Kilburn Park, Maida Vale and Warwick Avenue.

 District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.

 Additionally District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Cannon Street station on weekends until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Please use nearby Bank, Mansion House or Monument stations. The Circle line will be completely suspended all weekend from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive. 

 The District line will be suspended all weekend from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive between Mansion House and Bromley-by-Bow.  The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive between Liverpool Street and Barking. A replacement bus service will operate:

Eastbound: Between Mansion House and Stratford calling at Cannon Street, Monument, Tower Hill, Aldgate/Aldgate East, Whitechapel, Stepney Green, Mile End, Bow Road and Bromley-by-Bow.

Westbound: Between Stratford and Mansion House calling at Bromley-by-Bow, Bow Road, Mile End, Stepney Green, Whitechapel, Aldgate East/Aldgate, Fenchurch Street, Monument and Cannon Street.

Passengers are advised to use alternative Underground services. Passengers travelling between Tower Hill, Barking and Upminster are advised to use c2c services. London Underground tickets will be accepted local buses via any reasonable route. Passengers travelling late night are advised to start their journeys 45 minutes earlier than normal to maintain last train connections.
 
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010. The Jubilee line will be completely suspended from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive.  Four replacement bus services will operate:

Service C: Between Stanmore and Wembley Park calling at Canons Park, Queensbury and Kingsbury.Service D: Between Wembley Park and Finchley Road calling at Neasden, Dollis Hill, Willesden Green, Kilburn and West Hampstead.

Service E: Between Waterloo and Canada Water calling at Southwark, London Bridge and Bermondsey. Service F: Between North Greenwich and Stratford calling at Canning Town and West Ham.  Passengers travelling between central London and North Greenwich are advised to use the replacement bus service F and change at Canning Town, West Ham or Stratford.

 Boat replacement service (Good Friday 1600-0000, Saturday1100-0000, Easter Sunday 1100-2300 and Bank Holiday Monday 1600-0000): East India pier (for the DLR) – North Greenwich Pier (for the 02).

The Metropolitan line will be suspended  from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive  suspended Wembley Park and Uxbridge/ Northwood and Baker Street to Aldgate. Chiltern Railways services are suspended between Marylebone and Amersham. Two replacement bus services will operate:

Service A: Between Rayners Lane and Wembley Park calling at North Harrow, West Harrow, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park and Preston Road. Service B: Between Northwood and Wembley Park calling at Northwood Hills, Pinner, North Harrow, West Harrow and Harrow-on-the-Hill.
 
Passengers travelling between central London and Chiltern Railways destinations are advised to travel on Chiltern Railways services to/ from Marylebone via Beaconsfield or Aylesbury.

Passengers travelling between Northwick Park/ Preston Road and Amersham or Watford are advised to change between the replacement bus services at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

Passengers travelling between central London and Uxbridge branch stations are advised to use the Piccadilly line.

 Archway station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 on Sunday for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.   The Piccadilly line has no planned work this weekend.The Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.

 The Waterloo and City line will be suspended on Saturday.  This line is always closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.  

London Overground- Watford Junction – Euston. London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Easter Sunday. Replacement buses will be running calling at all intermediate stations.

Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction. London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.

 Richmond – Gospel Oak. London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Passengers should use the District line.

London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
 
Gospel Oak – Stratford. London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford every day until Tuesday 1 June. Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station. 

Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road and Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Road Tube station instead.

 Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The DLR will be suspended from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday between Canning Town – Beckton. Replacement buses will be running:

Canning Town – Royal Victoria – Custom House for ExCeL – Prince Regent – Royal Albert – Beckton Park – Cyprus – Gallions Reach – Beckton.
