Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

Check before you travel on April 17 and April 18, Saturday and Sunday for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink on these days.

London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines.

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

 London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend.

 London Underground- The Bakerloo line on Sunday will be suspended between Queen’s Park and Harrow and  Wealdstone.   London Overground services are also suspended between Queen’s Park and Stonebridge Park – all due to Network rail engineering work.

 A replacement bus service will run between Queen’s Park and Stonebridge Park calling at all stations, and London Overground services will run between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone.

The Central line on Sunday will be suspended between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone due to Network Rail Olympic development work at Stratford.  Replacement bus services will be running: Service A: Non-stop between Stratford and Leytonstone. Service B: Between Stratford and Leytonstone, calling intermediately at Leyton.


Passengers to and from central London should use National Express East Anglia services between Stratford and Liverpool Street.

District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
 
Additionally District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Cannon Street station on weekends until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Please use nearby Bank, Mansion House or Monument stations.

The Circle line will be completely suspended all weekend. The District line will be suspended between Earl’s Court and Edgware Road all weekend. The Hammersmith  and City line will be suspended between Hammersmith and King’s Cross St Pancras all weekend, for track replacement work.

A rail replacement bus service will operate between Paddington and Hammersmith calling at Royal Oak, Westbourne Park, Ladbroke Grove, Latimer Road, Shepherd’s Bush (Central line) and Shepherd’s Bush Market/Goldhawk Road.  Passengers should use the replacement bus service or existing bus and alternative Underground routes.
 
The Jubilee line will be suspended between North Greenwich and Stratford for line upgrade work.  A replacement bus service will operate between North Greenwich and Stratford calling at Canning Town and West Ham. After 21:30 on Sunday, due to the closure of the Blackwall Tunnel, the replacement bus service will operate between Canary Wharf and Stratford calling at East India (for the DLR), Canning Town and West Ham. Passengers for North Greenwich should use the replacement bus service to Canary Wharf and then the Jubilee line.

The Metropolitan line on Sunday will be suspended for line upgrade work.  Chiltern Railways will also be suspended between Great Missenden and London Marylebone. Four replacement bus services will be running:

Service A: Wembley Park – Preston Road – Northwick Park – Harrow-on-the-Hill – West Harrow – North Harrow  – Rayners Lane (for the Piccadilly line).

Service B: Wembley Park  – Harrow-on-the-Hill – West Harrow – North Harrow – Pinner – Northwood Hills – Northwood – Rickmansworth – Croxley – Watford.

Service C: Northwood – Moor Park. Service D: West Ruislip (for the Central line) – Ruislip (for the Piccadilly line) – Rickmansworth – Chorleywood – Chalfont & Latimer – Amersham – Chesham.

An enhanced Piccadilly line service will run between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Chiltern Railways will also operate a replacement bus service between Great Missenden, Amersham and Gerrards Cross for connection with services to and from London Marylebone.

Passengers between Uxbridge branch stations and central London should use the Piccadilly line. Passengers travelling between stations north of Moor Park and central London should use replacement bus service D to West Ruislip and then the Central line. Passengers to and from Moor Park should change buses at Northwood.
 
Archway station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate (zone three) and Tufnell Park.  
 Clapham South station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works while improvement works are carried out. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three.

South Wimbledon station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services to and from Colliers Wood and Morden.

The Piccadilly line and Victoria line has no planned work this weekend. The Waterloo and City line will be suspended on Saturday for drainage works.  This line is always closed on Sundays.  

Watford Junction – Euston. London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Sunday. Replacement buses will be running calling at all intermediate stations.
London Overground. Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction

London Overground services will be suspended between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction all weekend. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on Southern between Clapham Junction and Shepherd’s Bush and on the replacement buses which will run in both directions between:
Clapham Junction – Imperial Wharf – West Brompton – Kensington (Olympia) – Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction.  Valid London Overground tickets will also be accepted on bus route 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
 
Richmond – Gospel Oak. London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday. Passengers should use the District line.

London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

Gospel Oak – Stratford. London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford every day until Tuesday 1 June. Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station.  Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Road Tube station instead.

Gospel Oak – Barking. London Overground services between Gospel Oak and Barking on Sunday.  Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses which will run in both directions between: Gospel Oak (bus stop at station) – Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill – Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Walthamstow Central – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
 
Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The DLR will be suspended between Canary Wharf – Lewisham on Saturday only and between Canary Wharf – Mudchute on Sunday only.

 Three replacement bus services will be running: Service A:  Canary Wharf – Heron Quays – South Quay – Crossharbour – Mudchute – Island Gardens Service B:     Canary Wharf – Island Gardens express (Sunday only, 09:30 – 19:30) Service C:   Canary Wharf – Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich – Greenwich – Deptford Bridge – Elverson Road – Lewisham (Saturday only)
