Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

2nd December 2010: Check before you travel on December 4 and December 5, Saturday and Sunday for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink on these days. London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme.

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

Planned works will inevitably result in some disruption for passengers. TfL’s range of Travel Tools help passengers plan journeys, get travel information on the move and work out the safest way home www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools.

London Tramlink have no planned works this weekend. London Underground: The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend. The Central line has no planned work this weekend.
 
Cannon Street station on the District and Circle lines will be closed every weekend until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Customers are advised to use Mansion House and Monument stations.
 
The Circle line will be suspended between Hammersmith and Edgware Road all weekend.  Passengers should use alternative Tube lines and or local buses.
 
The District line will be suspended between Tower Hill and Upminster, and between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia) all weekend. c2c services are suspended between Barking and Upminster. Passengers travelling between central London and West Ham/ Barking are advised to use c2c services to/ from Fenchurch Street.                                                                                            
 
There are four bus replacement services: Service A: Tower Hill – Aldgate/ Aldgate East – Whitechapel – Stepney Green – Mile End – Bow Road – Bromley-by-Bow – Canning Town. Service B: Mile End – Bow Road – Stratford – Upton Park – East Ham – Barking. Service C: Barking – Upney – Becontree – Dagenham Heathway – Dagenham East. Service D: Barking – Dagenham East – Elm Park – Hornchurch – Upminster Bridge – Upminster.
 
The Hammersmith and City line will be suspended between Liverpool Street and Barking all weekend.  Passengers should use the four bus replacement services listed above.
 
Farringdon station on the Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City lines will be closed all weekend for Thameslink Upgrade work. Passengers should use nearby stations or local buses.
 
The Jubilee line will be suspended  between West Hampstead and Stanmore for line upgrade work all weekend. There will be two bus replacement services:Service C: Stanmore – Canons Park – Queensbury – Kingsbury – Wembley Park – Stonebridge Park (for Bakerloo line)Service D: Wembley Park – Neasden – Dollis Hill – Willesden Green – Kilburn – West Hampstead – Finchley Road.
 
The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Aldgate and Uxbridge due to track replacement and line upgrade work all weekend.  There are two bus replacement services:

Service A: Uxbridge – Hillingdon – Ickenham – West Ruislip (for Central line) – Ruislip – Ruislip Manor – Eastcote – Rayners Lane – South Harrow (for eastbound Piccadilly line) – West Harrow – Harrow-on-the-Hill. Service B: Harrow-on-the-Hill – Northwick Park – Preston Road – Wembley Park
 
The Piccadilly line will be suspended between South Harrow and Uxbridge all weekend due to track replacement work.  Passengers should use the Metropolitan line  replacement bus  service A.


Passengers travelling between the central area and the Uxbridge branch stations may find it quicker to travel via West Ruislip and the Central line.The Northern line and Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.
 
The Waterloo and City line has no planned work on Saturday.  The line does not operate on Sundays and Bank Holidays. London Overground: Richmond – Gunnersbury

London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday due to planned engineering work. Passengers should use the District line.
 
Gunnersbury – Gospel Oak: London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday due to planned engineering work. Rail replacement bus services will run between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak, calling at all stations except South Acton.

Gospel Oak – Stratford: London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday due to planned engineering work. Rail replacement bus services will run, calling at all stations except Caledonian Road and Barnsbury.
 
Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction: London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday due to planned engineering work. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes 220 and 228.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR): All day on Saturday and after 8am on Sunday, the DLR will be suspended between Stratford and Bow Church. There is replacement bus service running between:- Stratford – Pudding Mill Lane – Bow Church
 
On Sunday until 8am, the DLR will be suspended between Stratford and Mudchute. There is a replacement bus service between: Stratford – Pudding Mill Lane- Bow Church – Devons Road- Langdon Park – All Saints – Blackwall – Westferry – Canary Wharf – Heron Quays – South Quay – Crossharbour – Mudchute – Island Gardens
