‘Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR’ 14thFebruary2010
Check before you travel on February 20 and 21, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR. TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary. Docklands Light Railway has no planned work this weekend.London Underground.
The Bakerloo line will be suspended on Sunday only between Queen’s Park and Harrow and Wealdstone due to Network Rail engineering work. A replacement bus service will operate between Queen’s Park and Stonebridge Park calling at all intermediate stations.
For travel between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone please use London Overground services.On the Central line, Marble Arch station will be closed all weekend, while station improvement works are carried out. Please use local buses to nearby stations. Until 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday Mile End station will be open for interchange between the Central, District and Hammersmith and City lines only. You will be unable to enter/exit the station during this time. This is due to station improvement works.
After 12:30 Mile End station will be open as usual. The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to engineering work at Aldgate and Paddington. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services. District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work.
Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
The District line will be suspended all weekend between Kensington High Street and Edgware Road due to track replacement work. The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended between Hammersmith and Baker Street also for track replacement work. Replacement buses operate calling at Hammersmith -Shepherd’s Bush Green, Shepherd’s Bush (Central line), Latimer Road, Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park, Royal Oak, Paddington, Edgware Road and Baker Street.
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010. The Jubilee line will be suspended all weekend between Green Park and Stratford due to line upgrade work. Rail replacement buses will be operating: Service E: Between Waterloo and Canada Water, calling at Southwark, London Bridge and Bermondsey.
Service F: Between North Greenwich and Stratford, calling at Canning Town and West Ham. A boat replacement service will operate between North Greenwich and East India Pier (for the DLR) at the following times: Saturday 16:00 – midnight and Sunday 16:00 23:00.
The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Aldgate and Baker Street all weekend due to line signalling works and engineering work at Aldgate. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.
The Northern line will be suspended between Golders Green and Euston due to signalling work. Replacement buses will be running, calling at Golders Green – Hampstead, Belsize Park, Chalk Farm Camden Town and Euston. Due to platform closures at Camden Town all Northern line trains will be non-stopping.
Passengers should use nearby Kentish Town or Mornington Crescent stations instead, or the replacement bus service. Archway station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.

Clapham South and South Wimbledon stations on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.Hounslow East station on the Piccadilly line will close all weekend for station improvement works.
A replacement bus service will operate Osterley – Hounslow East.The Victoria line has no planned work this weekend. The Waterloo and City line will be suspended on Saturday due to drainage works. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services. It does not run a Sunday service.
London Overground Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction. London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
Watford Junction – Euston line. London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Sunday. Replacement buses will run, calling at all stations.Richmond to Stratford line. London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday. Passengers are advised to use the District line.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford all weekend. Replacement buses will run calling at all stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station, passengers should take the bus from Holloway Tube station instead. London Tramlink.
On London Tramlink all routes will be suspended between East Croydon and Reeves Corner/West Croydon all day on Sunday. Wimbledon trams will terminate at Reeves Corner whilst trams to and from Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington will terminate at East Croydon. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses within the town centre area. For passengers wishing to travel between the Wimbledon line and the New Addington line, bus route 410 provides a link between Reeves Corner and East Croydon.
