‘Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR’

Check before you travel on February 27 and 28, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink.TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

The passengers can also log on to TfL website (www.tfl.gov.uk/check) besides, making a through London Travel Info 24hrs telephone helpline: 0843 222 1234; andInformation on posters, leaflets and “Good Service” boards at Tube stations. Docklands Light Railway has no planned work this weekend.
The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend. The Central line will be suspended between Marble Arch and West Ruislip/Ealing Broadway all weekend.
Three replacement bus services will operate: Service A: Between Willesden Junction (for the Bakerloo line) and Northolt calling at North Acton, Park Royal (for Piccadilly line), Hanger Lane, Perivale and Greenford. Service B: Between Willesden Junction (for the Bakerloo line) and West Ruislip calling at North Acton, Northolt, South Ruislip and Ruislip Gardens.
Service C: Between Shepherd’s Bush and Ealing Broadway calling at White City, East Acton, North Acton and West Acton (limited service for local journeys only).
Until 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday Mile End station will be open for interchange between the Central, District and Hammersmith and City lines only. Passengers will be unable to enter or exit the station during this time, due to station improvement works. After 12:30 Mile End station will be open as usual.
The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to engineering work at Aldgate and Paddington. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.
District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. The passengers can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
The District line will be suspended between Tower Hill and Upney eastbound and between Barking and Tower Hill westbound. Passengers should use alternative Tube, bus and National Rail routes and the replacement bus services as follows:
Service A: Between Tower Hill and Stratford calling at Aldgate, Aldgate East, Whitechapel, Stepney Green, Mile End, Bow Road, Bromley-by-Bow, Canning Town (for the DLR) and Plaistow. Service B: Between Tower Hill and Barking calling at Aldgate, Aldgate East, Whitechapel, Stepney Green, Mile End, Canning Town (for the DLR), Upton Park and East Ham. Eastbound buses are extended to Upney.
Service D: Between Stratford, Upton Park and East Ham. This service operates between 0900 and 2030 only.
The Hammersmith and City line on Saturday only, will be suspended between Edgware Road and Barking. Passengers should use District line replacement buses.
Passengers between central London and Aldgate East/Whitechapel should use the Hammersmith and City line or local buses. Passengers between central London and West Ham, Barking and Upminster should use c2c train services from Fenchurch Street.
Passengers between central London and Elm Park, Hornchurch and Upminster Bridge should use c2c train services from Fenchurch Street and travel via Upminster. Passengers between central London and stations Stepney Green to East Ham should use Docklands Light Railway services from Bank and Tower Gateway to Bow Church or Canning Town, or Central line services to Mile End or Stratford then change to replacement bus services. The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.
The Jubilee Line, on Saturday only, will be suspended between Stanmore and West Hampstead. Two replacement buses will operate: Service C: Between Stanmore and Stonebridge Park (for the Bakerloo line) calling at Canons Park, Queensbury, Kingsbury and Wembley Park. Service D: Between Wembley Park and Finchley Road calling at all stations.
The Metropolitan line, on Saturday, will be suspended between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate.On Sunday the line will be suspended between Moorgate and Aldgate. Chiltern Railways will operate additional trains between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Marylebone for most of day. Two replacement buses will operate:
Service A: Between Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park, Preston Road and Wembley Park (for local passengers).Service B: Between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Stonebridge Park. This service runs early morning southbound and late night northbound.
Passengers travelling between Harrow-on-the-Hill and central London should use Chiltern Railways services to and from Marylebone except before 0600 southbound and after 2355 northbound they should use replacement bus service B.
Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend and will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.
Clapham South station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend and will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works while improvement works are carried out. Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.
South Wimbledon station on the Northern line will be closed all day on Sunday and close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.
Tooting Broadway station on the Northern line will be closed on Sunday. Passengers should use local bus services to and from Colliers Wood or Tooting Bec stations.
Warren Street station on the Northern and Victoria lines will be closed all weekend while improvement work is carried out. Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.
The entire Victoria line will be suspended on Saturday only.Two replacement buses will operate: Service A: Between Walthamstow Central and Manor House for the Piccadilly line calling at Blackhorse Road, Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters.
Service B: Between Victoria and Brixton calling at all stations.The Waterloo and City line has no planned work this weekend.
London Overground: Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction
London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
Richmond to Stratford line: London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday. Passengers are advised to use the District line. London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford from Saturday 20 February to Monday 31 May inclusive.Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station. Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Tube station instead.
London Tramlink: London Tramlink will be suspended on Line 3 between East Croydon and New Addington all weekend due to engineering works taking place in Sandilands tunnel.
A special bus service will operate between East Croydon and New Addington, serving all stops except Lebanon Road and Sandilands, (which will be served by trams on the Beckenham and Elmers End lines). Passengers for New Addington line stops are advised to change to a bus at East Croydon. Valid tickets will also be accepted on local buses.
