‘Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR’

Check before you travel on  March 13 and 14, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink. London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines. 

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.TfL’s range of Travel Tools help passengers plan journeys, get travel information on the move and work out the safest way home www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools

London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend. London Underground, the Bakerloo line, on Sunday only, will be suspended between Paddington and Harrow & Wealdstone, due to Network Rail engineering work.  A replacement bus service will run between Paddington and Stonebridge Park calling at all stations. London Overground services will run between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone.

Until 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday Mile End station will be open for interchange between the Central, District and Hammersmith and City lines only. Passengers will be unable to entery and exit the station during this time. Please use local buses. This is due to station improvement works. After 12:30 Mile End station will be open as usual.

The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to engineering work at Aldgate, Baker Street and Paddington. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

 The District line will be suspended all weekend between Earl’s Court and Whitechapel for track replacement work. Passengers should use alternative Underground services or local bus services.

 District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
 

Additionally District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Cannon Street station on weekends until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Please use nearby Mansion House or Monument stations.

 Farringdon station on the Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines will be closed all weekend due to station improvement works. Passengers should use local bus services or walk to/from Barbican/King’s Cross St. Pancras. The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.

 The Jubilee line will be completely suspended all weekend for line upgrades work.Four replacement bus services will operate as follows: Service C: Between Stanmore and Stonebridge Park (for the Bakerloo line) on Saturday and between Stanmore and Baker Street on Sunday, calling at Canons Park, Queensbury, Kingsbury and Wembley Park.

Service D: Between Wembley Park and Baker Street calling at Neasden, Dollis Hill, Willesden Green, Kilburn, West Hampstead, Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage and St. John’s Wood. Service E: Between Waterloo and Canada Water calling at Southwark, London Bridge and Bermondsey.

Service F: Between Stratford and North Greenwich calling at West Ham and Canning Town. After 2030 on Sunday, due to the closure of the Blackwall Tunnel this service will operate between Stratford and Canary Wharf calling at West Ham, Canning Town and East India (for a boat service to and from North Greenwich).

 Passengers between central London and stations north of Willesden Green are advised to  use replacement bus service C or D changing at Wembley Park for replacement bus service C to Stonebridge Park (on Saturday) or Baker Street (on Sunday).

 Passengers between central London and North Greenwich should use replacement bus service F changing at Canning Town, West Ham or Stratford. After 2030 on Sunday passengers should use the boat service between East India and North Greenwich.

The Metropolitan line will be suspended all weekend between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate for signalling work. Passengers travelling between Harrow-on-the-Hill and central London should use Chiltern Railways services to and from Marylebone. Extra trains will be provided.

Two replacement bus services will operate. Service A:  Between Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park, Preston Road and Wembley Park (for local passengers). Service B: Between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Baker Street. This service runs early morning southbound and late night northbound only. See also Jubilee line entry for other replacement bus services.

Aldgate station on the Metropolitan and Circle lines will be closed all weekend due to platform lengthening works.  Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations. Hounslow East station on the Piccadilly line will be closed all weekend due to station improvement works. A replacement bus service operates between Osterley and Hounslow East.

 Northfields station on the Piccadilly line will be closed all weekend due to station improvement works. Passengers should use nearby South Ealing station or local buses to Boston Manor.

 Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend and will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.   

Clapham South station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works while improvement works are carried out. Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.
 

South Wimbledon station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.

 The Waterloo and City line has no planned work this weekend. There is no Sunday service. London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.

 Richmond to Stratford line, London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford every day until Tuesday 1 June. Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station.  Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Road Tube station instead.

Watford Junction to Euston line, London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park calling at all intermediate stations.
 

Docklands Light Railway (DLR) – The DLR will be suspended on Sunday between Canning Town – Beckton. There is a replacement bus service: Service A: Canning Town – Royal Victoria – Custom House for  ExCeL – Prince Regent – Royal Albert – Beckton Park – Cyprus – Gallions Reach – Beckton.
