Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

Check before you travel on  March 20 and 21, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink.London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines. 

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.TfL’s range of Travel Tools help passengers plan journeys, get travel information on the move and work out the safest way home www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools

London Underground. The Bakerloo line will be completely suspended on Sunday due to Network Rail engineering work.  London Overground services are also suspended between Queen’s Park and Stonebridge Park.

 A replacement bus service will run between Paddington and Stonebridge Park calling at all stations, and London Overground services will run every 30 minutes between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone. For central London Bakerloo line destinations please use alternative Tube lines or buses.
 
Until 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday Mile End station will be open for interchange between the Central, District and Hammersmith and City lines only. Passengers will be unable to enter/exit the station during this time. Please use local buses to nearby stations.

This is due to station improvement works. After 12:30 Mile End station will be open as usual. District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.

Additionally District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Cannon Street station on weekends until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Please use nearby Mansion House or Monument stations.The District line will be suspended all weekend between West Kensington and Richmond and between West Kensington and Ealing Broadway for track replacement work.

The Piccadilly line will be suspended all weekend between Hammersmith and Ealing Common and between Hammersmith and Northfields for track replacement work.

Three replacement bus services will operate: Service A:  Between Hammersmith and Boston Manor calling at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury (for London Overground trains to Richmond), Acton Town, Ealing Common, Ealing Broadway (for the Central line) and South Ealing.Service B: Between Ealing Broadway (for the Central line) and Boston Manor non- stop. Service C: Between Hammersmith and Osterley non-stop.

Passengers between central London and stations Boston Manor to Heathrow Airport are advised to use Central line services to Ealing Broadway, replacement bus service B to Boston Manor and then Piccadilly line trains to Heathrow. This non-stop rail replacement bus service will use single decker buses with plenty of luggage space, and porters will be available at each end to assist.

Passengers between central London and stations Ealing Common to South Harrow are advised to use Central line services to Ealing Broadway, replacement bus service A to Ealing Common and then Piccadilly Line trains to Rayners Lane.
Passengers between central London and stations Rayners Lane to Uxbridge are advised to use the Metropolitan line.

The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010. The Jubilee line will be suspended all weekend between Stanmore and Waterloo for line upgrade works. Two replacement bus services will operate as follows:

Service C: Between Stanmore and Wembley Park (for the Metropolitan line) calling at Canons Park, Queensbury and Kingsbury. Service D: Between Wembley Park and Finchley Road calling at Neasden, Dollis Hill, Willesden Green (for the Metropolitan line), Kilburn and West Hampstead.

Passengers between central London and stations north of Willesden Green are advised to use the Metropolitan line to Wembley Park then replacement bus service C or D. Metropolitan line trains will call additionally at Willesden Green.

Archway station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.  

Clapham South station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works while improvement works are carried out. Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.

South Wimbledon station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.

Warren Street station on the Northern and Victoria lines will be closed all weekend while improvement work is carried out.  Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.The Waterloo & City line will be suspended on Saturday for drainage works. There is no Sunday service. Passengers should use alternative Underground services.

London Overground. Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction
London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.

Richmond – Gospel Oak, London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and South Acton on Saturday until 08:30. Rail replacement buses will run calling at intermediate stations.

London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

Gospel Oak – Stratford, London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford every day until Tuesday 1 June. Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except

Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station.  Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Road Tube station instead.

Watford Junction to Euston line. London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park calling at all intermediate stations. London Tramlink- Track works are taking place on Tramlink on Sunday at Dundonald Road, Wimbledon, finishing by 15:00.

The Wimbledon – New Addington service will be suspended between Wimbledon and Merton Park, where trams from New Addington will terminate. A normal service will operate throughout the rest of Tramlink.

There will not be a special bus service.  For passengers wishing to connect with trams at Merton Park tram stop, buses 163 and 164 provide a link with Wimbledon.  Valid Tramlink tickets will be accepted on local buses.

It is not possible for buses to access Dundonald Road tram stop but Wimbledon is a short walk along Hartfield Crescent.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR),The DLR will be suspended all weekend between Bank/Tower Gateway – Beckton/London City Airport. There will be four replacement buses:

Service A :   Bank – Shadwell – Limehouse – Westferry – Canary Wharf.Service B:    Bank – Canary Wharf, express via Tower Gateway (Saturday 08:30- 19:30, Sunday 09:30 – 19:30)

Service C:    Canary Wharf – Blackwall – East India – Canning Town – Royal Victoria – Custom House for ExCeL – Prince Regent – Royal Albert – Beckton Park – Cyprus – Gallions Reach – Beckton. Service D:    Canary Wharf – Blackwall – East India – Canning Town – West Silvertown – Pontoon Dock – London City Airport.
