Work on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

Check before you travel on May 8 and 9, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink. London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines. 

TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

 London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend. London Underground- The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend.

 The Central line on Sunday will be suspended between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone for Olympic development work at Stratford.  Two replacement bus services will operate as follows:

Service A: Stratford – Leytonstone, non-stop.Service B: Stratford – Leyton – Leytonstone.

There are no replacement bus services operating between Stratford and Liverpool Street.  Passengers are advised to travel via the Jubilee line between Stratford and central London or National Rail services Liverpool Street and Stratford.

The Circle line will be completely suspended all weekend due to track replacement work. Use alternative Tube lines or buses. District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.

Additionally District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Cannon Street station on weekends until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Please use nearby Bank, Mansion House or Monument stations.

District line trains will not be stopping at Southfields station all weekend while station improvement work is being carried out. A replacement bus service will run to and from Southfields and East Putney stations.

The District line will be suspended all weekend between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road for track replacement work. The Hammersmith and City line will be suspended all weekend between Hammersmith and King’s Cross St. Pancras for track replacement and line upgrade work. 

Customers for central London are advised to use existing bus and alternative Underground routes, in particular District and Piccadilly line train services at Hammersmith and Central line train services at Shepherd’s Bush and White City.

 A limited replacement bus service will operate between Hammersmith and Paddington for local journeys calling at Shepherd’s Bush Green – Shepherd’s Bush (Central Line) – Latimer Road – Ladbroke Grove – Westbourne Park – Royal Oak.

 The Jubilee line has no planned work this weekend. The Metropolitan line will be suspended all weekend between Aldgate and Baker Street for line upgrade work. Passengers travelling to/from stations between Great Portland Street and Aldgate are advised to use alternative London Underground services or local bus services.
 
The Piccadilly line has no planned work this weekend. South Wimbledon station on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 on Sunday for improvement works. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services to and from Colliers Wood and Morden.

The Northern line will be suspended between Kennington and Morden all weekend for line upgrade work. A replacement bus service will run between Clapham Common and Morden calling at all stations.

Passengers travelling between Morden – Clapham Common stations and central London should use local buses to Wimbledon for the District line or the replacement bus service to Balham for National Rail services to Victoria. Passengers travelling between Clapham North or Oval and central London should use local bus services changing at Stockwell for the Victoria line.

Northern and Victoria line trains will not be stopping at Warren Street station all weekend while station improvement work is carried out. Passengers should use local bus services or nearby stations.

The Waterloo and City line has no planned work this weekend.Watford Junction – Euston London Overground services will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park on Sunday. Replacement buses will be running calling at all intermediate stations.

Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction. London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on bus route 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
 
Richmond – Gospel Oak. London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday. Passengers should use the District line.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road and  Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

Gospel Oak – Stratford. London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford every day until Tuesday 1 June. Replacement buses will run between Hampstead Heath and Stratford, calling at all affected stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station.  Passengers should take the 153 bus from Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (Hemingford Road) to join the replacement bus service at Holloway Road Tube station instead.

 Gospel Oak – Barking. London Overground services between Gospel Oak and Barking on Sunday.  Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses which will run in both directions between: Gospel Oak (bus stop at station) – Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill – Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Walthamstow Central – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.

Extended East London Line. Dalston Junction – New Cross Gate. This section of the line has now opened ahead of schedule with a limited preview service running Monday to Fridays between 07:00 and 20:00 only and will build up towards a full timetable by mid-May. 

 Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services will be suspended all weekend between Stratford – Mudchute and Westferry – Mudchute. Two replacement bus services will operate:

Service A: Stratford – Pudding Mill Lane – Bow Church – Devons Road – Langdon Park – All Saints – Westferry – Canary Wharf – Heron Quays – South Quay – Crossharbour – Mudchute – Island Gardens Service B: Westferry – Canary Wharf – Island Gardens (08:30 – 19:30 Saturday, 09:30 – 19:30 Sunday)
