Work on to improve the Tube, Overground, Tramlink, DLR

Check before you travel on Saturday and Sunday 2 and 3 January 2010, as work is one to improve the Tube, Overground, Tramlink, DLR

London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme. TfL, as such, has urged all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.
 
London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend.

London Underground

The Bakerloo line will be suspended between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park, due to Network Rail engineering work, which will mean replacement buses, will be operating between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s Park, calling also at Harlesden, Willesden Junction and Kensal Green stations.

 

The Central line has no planned work this weekend.

 

The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to Crossrail enabling and line signalling works. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

 

District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.

 

The District line will be suspended all weekend between Tower Hill and Whitechapel due to signalling work.  A replacement bus service will operate between Tower Hill and Whitechapel calling also at Aldgate and Aldgate East.

The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.

 

The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended all weekend between King’s Cross St Pancras and Barking due to Crossrail enabling and line signalling works. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

 

The Jubilee line has no planned work this weekend.

 

The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Baker Street and Aldgate due to Crossrail enabling and line signalling works.  Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

 

Piccadilly line trains on Sunday only will not be stopping at King’s Cross St. Pancras station due to station improvement work. Use alternative lines to/from King’s Cross or local buses.

 

Archway station on the Northern line closes early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until May 2010 for modernisation work.  Valid tickets will accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.

 

Clapham South station on the Northern line closes early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursday until late April 2010 for improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three.

 

The Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.

 

The Waterloo & City line has no planned work on Saturday. It does not run a Sunday service.

 

London Overground

 

Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction line

London Overground services will be suspended between Clapham Junction and Shepherd’s Bush on Saturday after 2230. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on Southern services between these stations.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Saturday. Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction on Sunday. Replacement buses will be running calling at all stations. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on Southern services between Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush.

 

Watford Junction – Euston line

London Overground services will be suspended between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park all weekend. Between Harrow & Wealdstone and Stonebridge Park passengers should use the Bakerloo line. Between Stonebridge Park and Queen’s park replacement buses will be running calling at all stations.

 

Richmond to Stratford line

London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury all weekend. Passengers are advised to use the District line.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak all weekend. Replacement buses will run between Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford all weekend.  Replacement buses, which will run between Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak – Kentish Town West – Camden Road – Holloway Road (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury) – Highbury & Islington – Canonbury – Dalston Kingsland – Hackney Central – Homerton – Hackney Wick – Stratford.

 

 

Gospel Oak – Barking line

London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Barking on Sunday. Replacement buses will run calling at all stations.

 

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

 
DLR services at Bank will be suspended between 24 December and end of January while work takes place to enable three-carriage trains to operate between Bank and Lewisham from early 2010.
