Work on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR
22nd October 2009: Check before you travel on Saturday and Sunday 24 and 25 October 2009, as work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR.
TfL has urged all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend.
The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend.
The Central line will be suspended on Sunday between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone for Network Rail Olympic development works at Stratford. Customers travelling to/from central London are advised to use alternative Tube and bus routes. Additionally, valid LU tickets will be accepted on National Rail services between Liverpool Street and Seven Kings, although customers using Oyster pay as you go will be able to use these tickets on National Rail services between Stratford and Liverpool Street only.
A limited replacement bus service will also operate, for local journeys, as follows:
Service A: Stratford – Leyton – Leytonstone
St Paul’s station on the Central line is only open for exit only between 0730 and 1000 on Mondays to Fridays until late October. This is due to escalator maintenance work.
Marble Arch station on the Central line will be closed all weekend for improvement works. Please use local buses.
Circle and District line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use nearby Temple or Mansion House stations and/or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
District line trains will not be stopping at Southfields station. A replacement bus service operates East Putney – Southfields.
The District line will be suspended all weekend between West Kensington and Richmond/Ealing Broadway for track replacement work. Additionally the Piccadilly line will be suspended all weekend between Hammersmith and Northfields/Ealing Common.
Passengers travelling between Heathrow Airport and central London should use Heathrow Express services to/from London Paddington. LU tickets or Oyster cards valid from zones 1-6 will be accepted on the Heathrow Express. Passengers travelling between Richmond and central London should use South West Trains from London Waterloo.
Rail replacement bus services for local journeys only:
Service A: Between Hammersmith and Boston Manor calling at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Gunnersbury (for London Overground service), Acton Town, Ealing Common, Ealing Broadway (for Central line) and South Ealing.
Service B: Between Hammersmith and Boston Manor non-stop.
Service C: Between Hammersmith and Richmond calling at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury and Kew Gardens. This service runs before 0635 and after 2320 on Saturday, and before 0750 and after 2340 on Sunday.
The Piccadilly line will also be suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Please use the Metropolitan line. Hyde Park Corner station on the Piccadilly line will be closed after 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays and before 06:00 Mondays to Fridays until 30 October for station improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services.
The Hammersmith & City line has no planned work this weekend.
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.
The Jubilee line will be suspended on Saturday between Waterloo and Stanmore for line upgrade works. Use alternative Tube, local bus routes or the following replacement buses:
Service C: Stanmore – Canons Park – Queensbury – Kingsbury – Wembley Park
Service D: Wembley Park – Neasden – Dollis Hill – Willesden Green – Kilburn – West Hampstead – Finchley Road (for the Metropolitan line).
The Metropolitan line has no planned work this weekend.
Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend for modernisation work. Please use local buses. Northern line trains will not stop at King’s Cross all weekend for improvement works. Use alternative lines for King’s Cross or change at Euston and take the Victoria line.
Northern line trains will not be stopping at Clapham North and Tooting Bec stations from 22:00 every evening Sundays to Thursdays until 26 November because of station improvement works. Please use existing local bus routes.
Colliers Wood station on the Northern line will be closing early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursday and before 06:00 Mondays to Fridays until 23 December for improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Tooting Broadway or South Wimbledon.
Northern and Victoria line trains will not stop at Warren Street station all weekend while the station is closed for improvement works. Passengers should use nearby Goodge Street, Great Portland Street or Euston stations and existing local bus services.
The Waterloo & City line has no planned work on Saturday. There is no Sunday service.
Richmond to Stratford line
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday only. Replacement buses will run between Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday. Replacement buses, which will run between Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak – Kentish Town West – Camden Road – Holloway Road (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury) – Highbury & Islington – Canonbury – Dalston Kingsland – Hackney Central – Homerton – Hackney Wick – Stratford.
Gospel Oak to Barking
London Overground will be suspended between South Tottenham and Barking on Saturday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses which will run between: South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Barking from 17:00 on Saturday and all day on Sunday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, which will run between: Gospel Oak –Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill –Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
London Overground services will be suspended from 1930 on Saturday and until 12:30 on Sunday between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, which will run on Saturday evening between Clapham Junction – Imperial Wharf – West Brompton – Kensington (Olympia) – Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction.
London Overground services will be suspended after 12:30 on Sunday between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction.
Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on Southern services all day on Sunday.
Docklands Light Railway will be suspended between be Stratford – Lewisham.
Replacement buses will run in both directions between:
Stratford – Pudding Mill Lane – Bow Church – Devons Road – Langdon Park – All Saints – Westferry – Canary Wharf – South Quay – Crossharbour – Mudchute – Island Gardens
Canary Wharf – Westferry – Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich – Greenwich – Deptford Bridge – Elverson Road – Lewisham
