Check before you travel on Saturday and Sunday 30 & 31 January 2010, as work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, Tramlink and DLR
 
TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

London Underground
 
The Bakerloo line will be suspended on Sunday only between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to Network Rail engineering work. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Queen’s Park – Kensal Green – Willesden Junction –Harlesden – Stonebridge Park – Wembley Central – North Wembley – South Kenton – Harrow & Wealdstone.
 
The Central line has no planned work this weekend.
 
The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to track replacement work. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.
 
The District line will be suspended all weekend between Embankment and Whitechapel due to Thameslink engineering work at Blackfriars. Passengers should use alternative London Underground lines and local bus services.
 
District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
 
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.
 
The Hammersmith & City line has no planned engineering work this weekend.
 
The Jubilee line is suspended between Green Park and Stratford this weekend due to line upgrade work. Rail replacement bus services will be running as follows:
Service E: Waterloo –Southwark -London Bridge – Bermondsey – Canada Water
Service F: North Greenwich -Canning Town -West Ham –Stratford
 
A boat replacement service will be available on Saturday from 1300 until 0000 and on Sunday from 1300 until 2300 between North Greenwich Pier and East India Pier (for East India DLR station).
 
The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Aldgate and Uxbridge/Watford/ Rickmansworth all weekend due to line signalling works and the Piccadilly line will be suspended all weekend between South Harrow and Uxbridge.  Three replacement bus services will operate:
 
Service A: Wembley Park – Preston Road – Northwick Park – Harrow-on-the-Hill – West Harrow – South Harrow – Rayners Lane – Eastcote – Ruislip Manor – Ruislip – West Ruislip (for the Central line) – Ickenham – Hillingdon – Uxbridge
 
Service B: Wembley Park – Harrow-on-the-Hill – North Harrow –Pinner -Northwood Hills – Northwood – Rickmansworth – Croxley – Watford
 
Service C: Northwood and Moor Park
 
Passengers travelling between Wembley Park and Uxbridge/Northwood/Watford can also use local bus routes via any reasonable route, valid Underground tickets will be accepted. Passengers travelling between central London and Uxbridge branch stations are advised to use the Central line to/from West Ruislip or the Piccadilly line to/from South Harrow.
 
Passengers are advised that there will be no Chiltern Railways service on Saturday between Marylebone and Amersham and no service on Sunday between Marylebone and Aylesbury. Passengers travelling between central London and Chiltern Railways destinations should use Chiltern Railways services to/from Marylebone via Beaconsfield or Aylesbury (via High Wycombe).
 
 
Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend for modernisation work. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.
 
Archway, Clapham South and South Wimbledon stations on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon or Archway please use local bus services.
 
The Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.
 
The Waterloo & City line has no planned work on Saturday. It does not run a Sunday service.
 
London Overground
 
Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction
London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday.  Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.
 
Watford Junction – Euston line
London Overground services will be suspended between Queen’s Park and Euston after 20.00 on Saturday and before 12.00 and after 21.00 on Sunday. Passengers are advised to use the Bakerloo, Victoria and Hammersmith & City lines where valid London Overground tickets will be accepted.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park on Sunday.  Replacement buses will operate, calling at Harrow & Wealdstone – Kenton – South Kenton – North Wembley – Wembley Central – Stonebridge Park – Harlesden – Willesden Junction – Kensal Green – Queen’s Park.
 
Richmond to Stratford line
London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday.  Passengers are advised to use the District line.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford all weekend.  Replacement buses will run calling at all stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station, passengers should take the bus from Holloway Tube station instead.
 
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Barking on Sunday only. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gospel Oak – Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill – Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Walthamstow Central – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
 
Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
 
DLR services at Bank will be suspended until the end of January while work takes place to enable three-carriage trains to operate between Bank and Lewisham from early 2010.

Replacement bus services will operate as follows:
Service A:  Bank – Tower Gateway – Shadwell – Limehouse – Westferry – Canary Wharf
Service B:   Bank – Canary Wharf express via Tower Gateway
 
During this disruption train services will operate:
•      Stratford – Lewisham
•     Poplar – Beckton
•     Canning Town – Woolwich Arsenal
•      Canary Wharf – Lewisham (06:30 – 10:00 & 16:00 – 19:30)
•      Blackwall – Beckton (10:00 – 16:00)
 
DLR services will be suspended between Bank/Tower Gateway & Poplar/West India Quay and Canning Town & Beckton all weekend due to Investment Programme works to extend platforms enabling three-carriage trains to be introduced from early 2010.
 
Replacement bus services will operate as follows:
Service A:  Bank – Tower Gateway – Shadwell – Limehouse – Westferry – Canary Wharf
Service B:  Bank – Canary Wharf, express via Tower Gateway (08:30 – 19:30 Sat, 09:30 – 19:30 Sun)
Service C:  Canning Town – Royal Victoria – Custom House for ExCel – Prince Regent – Royal Albert – Beckton Park – Cyprus – Gallions Reach – Beckton
 
During this disruption train services will operate:
·         Stratford – Lewisham
·         Lewisham – Woolwich Arsenal
 
London Tramlink
Due to engineering works, there will be no tram service on route 3 between Reeves Corner and Therapia Lane until 1400 on Sunday only. Additionally due to road resurfacing works at Station Road, West Croydon, trams will not serve stops between Reeves Corner and East Croydon before 0800.  Route 3 will therefore run in two sections:
 
•      New Addington to West Croydon (terminating at East Croydon until 0800)
•      Therapia Lane to Wimbledon
 
A tram replacement bus service will operate between Therapia Lane, Ampere Way and Reeves Corner until 1400 and calling additionally at East Croydon until 0800.

Routes 1 and 2 will terminate at East Croydon from Elmers End/Beckenham until 0800 due to road resurfacing works at Station Road, West Croydon.
