Work on to improve the Tube, London Overground, Tramlink and DLR

 

 

5th February 2010: Check before you travel on Saturday and Sunday 6 & 7 February, as work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR

TfL has urged all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

 As well as from the TfL website (www.tfl.gov.uk/check) passengers can check before travelling via the London Travel Info 24hrs telephone helpline:  0843 222 1234; and information on posters, leaflets and “Good Service” boards at Tube stations.

 Docklands Light Railway has no planned work this weekend.

 London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend.

 London Underground

 The Bakerloo line will be suspended on Sunday only between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to Network Rail engineering work. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Queen’s Park – Kensal Green – Willesden Junction –Harlesden – Stonebridge Park – Wembley Central – North Wembley – South Kenton Kenton – Harrow & Wealdstone.

The Central line has no planned work this weekend.

The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to track replacement work. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

The District line will be suspended all weekend between Tower Hill and Upminster due to signalling and track replacement work.

Passengers travelling between central London and stations between West Ham and Barking are advised to use c2c services from Fenchurch Street.

Four rail replacement bus services will be operating:

Service A: Calling at Tower Hill, Aldgate/Aldgate East, Whitechapel, Stepney Green, Mile End (for Central line), Bow Road (for the DLR from Bow Church), Bromley-by-Bow and Canning Town (for DLR and Jubilee line).

Service B: Calling at Mile End (for Central line), Stratford (for Central and Jubilee lines and DLR), Upton Park, East Ham and Barking.

Service C: Calling at Barking, Upney, Becontree, Dagenham Heathway and Dagenham East.

Service D: Calling at Barking, Dagenham East, Elm Park, Hornchurch, Upminster Bridge and Upminster.

 

  • Passengers travelling between central London and stations between Stepney Green and East Ham are advised to use the Central line interchanging at Mile End or Stratford.
  • Rail replacement bus services will not serve Plaistow or West Ham.
  • Passengers travelling between central London and Plaistow are advised to use local bus routes to/from Stratford for the Central line or Canning Town for the Jubilee Line.

 

District and Circle line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use Temple or Mansion House stations or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.

 

The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.

 

The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended all weekend between Edgware Road and Barking due to engineering work at Baker Street. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.

 

The Jubilee line is suspended between Stanmore and West Hampstead due to line upgrade works.

Two rail replacement bus services will operate:

Service C: Calling at Stanmore, Canons Park, Queensbury, Kingsbury, Wembley Park, Stonebridge ParkBaker Street (Sunday only). (Saturday only for the Bakerloo line), and

Service D: Between Wembley Park and Finchley Road, calling at all intermediate stations.

 

The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Aldgate and Wembley Park all weekend due to line signalling works.  Chiltern Railways trains will be operating additional train services between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Marylebone. Passengers travelling between Uxbridge branch stations and central London are advised to use Piccadilly line services.

 

Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend for modernisation work. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.   In addition Archway station will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works.

 

Clapham South station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend for improvement work. Passengers should use local bus services 50, 155, 249 and 355.

 

Clapham South and South Wimbledon stations on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.

 

The Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.

 

The Waterloo & City line will be suspended on Saturday. Please use other London Underground lines. It does not run a Sunday service.

 

London Overground

 

Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction

London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction on Sunday.  Valid Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes, 220 between Shepherd’s Bush Green and Willesden Junction and bus route 228 between Shepherd’s Bush station and Willesden Junction.

 

Watford Junction – Euston line

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queen’s Park on Sunday.  Replacement buses will operate, calling at Harrow & Wealdstone – Kenton – South Kenton – North Wembley – Wembley Central – Stonebridge Park – Harlesden – Willesden Junction – Kensal Green – Queen’s Park.

 

Richmond to Stratford line

London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday.  Passengers are advised to use the District line.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Replacement buses will operate, calling at Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.

 

London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford all weekend.  Replacement buses will run calling at all stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station, passengers should take the bus from Holloway Tube station instead.
