Work on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR.
5th November 2009: Check before you travel on Saturday and Sunday 7 and 8 November 2009, as work is on to improve the Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR.
London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme. The work will be undertaken by London Underground and Tube Lines.

London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend.
The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend.
The Central line has no planned work this weekend.
The Circle line will be completely suspended this weekend for track replacement work. Please use alternative Tube and bus routes.
Circle and District line trains will not be stopping at Blackfriars station until late 2011 due to Network Rail engineering work. Customers for Blackfriars are advised to use nearby Temple or Mansion House stations and/or local bus route 388. Or they can use London River Services during peak times; piers are a short walk from London Bridge, Tower Hill, Embankment, Westminster and Blackfriars stations.
The District line will be suspended all weekend between Earl’s Court and Edgware Road and the Hammersmith & City line will be suspended all weekend between Baker Street and Hammersmith for track replacement works.
Rail replacement bus services will operate between Baker Street and Hammersmith, calling intermediately at Edgware Road, Paddington, Royal Oak, Westbourne Park, Ladbroke Grove, Latimer Road, Shepherd’s Bush (Central line), and Shepherd’s Bush Market.
Passengers travelling between Hammersmith and Baker Street and Earl’s Court/Gloucester Road and Edgware Road are advised to use existing bus service and alternative Underground routes, in particular the Central line at Notting Hill Gate and Shepherd’s Bush, and the Bakerloo line at Paddington and Edgware Road.
The District line will be suspended between Turnham Green and Richmond on Sunday. Two rail replacement bus services will operate:
Service A: Calling at Turnham Green, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens Station, Botanical Gardens and Richmond station.
Service B: Calling at Turnham Green, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Botanical Gardens and Richmond, only between 1000 and 1900.
The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010.
On Saturday, the Jubilee line will be suspended between Waterloo and Stanmore for line upgrade works.
Two rail replacement bus services will operate:
Service C: Between Stanmore and Stonebridge Park (for Bakerloo line connections), calling intermediately at Canons Park, Queensbury, Kingsbury and Wembley Park.
Service D: Between Wembley Park and Baker Street, calling intermediately at Neasden, Dollis Hill, Willesden Green, Kilburn, West Hampstead, Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage and St John’s Wood.
On Sunday, Jubilee line will be suspended between Stanmore and West Hampstead. Two rail replacement bus services will operate:
Service A: Between Stanmore and Wembley Park, calling at all intermediate stations.
Service B: Between Wembley Park and Finchley Road, calling at all intermediate stations.
The Metropolitan line will be suspended on Saturday between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill for track and signalling work. Chiltern Railways will operate additional trains between Marylebone and Harrow-on-the-Hill, providing four trains per hour over this section for most of the weekend.
Passengers travelling between Harrow-on-the-Hill and central London must use Chiltern Railways to and from Marylebone, except before 0730 southbound and after 2330 northbound, when they are advised to travel via Rail Replacement Bus Service B. Two rail replacement bus services will operate:
Service A: Between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Wembley Park, calling at Northwick Park and Preston Road. This service is designed for local passengers.
Service B: Between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Stonebridge Park. This service operates very early morning southbound and late night northbound.
Passengers travelling between Uxbridge branch stations and central London are advised to use the Piccadilly line.
Archway station on the Northern line is closed all weekend and will also be closing early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until May 2010 for modernisation work.
But the station will revert to full opening times between 24 December 2009 and 2 January 2010. Valid tickets will accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park.
Northern line trains will not be stopping at Clapham North and Tooting Bec stations from 22:00 every evening Sundays to Thursdays until 26 November because of station improvement works. Please use existing local bus routes.
Colliers Wood station on the Northern line will be closing early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursday and before 06:00 Mondays to Fridays until 23 December for improvement works. Passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Tooting Broadway or South Wimbledon.
Piccadilly line trains will not be stopping at Hounslow East station all weekend while improvement works take place. A rail replacement bus service will operate between Osterley and Hounslow East.
The Victoria line will be completely suspended all weekend. Two rail replacement bus services will operate:
Service A: Walthamstow Central – Blackhorse Road – Tottenham Hale – Seven Sisters – Manor House for Piccadilly line connections to/from central London.
Service B: Between Victoria and Brixton, calling at all intermediate stations. Valid LU tickets will be accepted on Southeastern services between Victoria and Brixton, which will only take on average eight minutes.
The Waterloo & City line has no planned work on Saturday. There is no Sunday service.
Richmond to Stratford line
London Overground will be suspended between Richmond and Gunnersbury on Sunday only. Replacement buses will run Richmond – Royal Botanical Gardens – Kew Gardens – Gunnersbury – Chiswick Park – Turnham Green
London Overground services will be suspended between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak on Sunday only. Replacement buses will run between Gunnersbury – Acton Central (for South Acton) – Willesden Junction – Kensal Rise – Brondesbury Park – Brondesbury – West Hampstead – Finchley Road & Frognal – Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday. Replacement buses, which will run between Hampstead Heath – Gospel Oak – Kentish Town West – Camden Road – Holloway Road (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury) – Highbury & Islington – Canonbury – Dalston Kingsland – Hackney Central – Homerton – Hackney Wick – Stratford.
Gospel Oak to Barking
London Overground services will be suspended between South Tottenham and Barking on Saturday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses which will run between: South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Barking after 17:00 on Saturday and all day Sunday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, which will run between: Gospel Oak –Upper Holloway – Crouch Hill –Harringay Green Lanes – South Tottenham – Blackhorse Road – Walthamstow Queen’s Road – Leyton Midland Road – Leytonstone High Road – Wanstead Park – Woodgrange Park – Barking.
London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, which will run between Clapham Junction – Imperial Wharf – West Brompton – Kensington (Olympia) – Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction.
Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
The DLR will be suspended between Tower Gateway/Bank and Poplar/Lewisham and also between Stratford and Canary Wharf all weekend. Four rail replacement buses will run between:
Bank – Tower Gateway – Shadwell – Limehouse – Westferry – Canary Wharf – South Quay – Crossharbour – Mudchute – Island Gardens – Blackwall
Bank – Tower Gateway – Canary Wharf – Blackwall
