Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR
2nd September 2010: Check before you travel on September 4 and September 5 for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink on these days.
London Underground (LU) is undertaking a major programme of renewal as part of Transport for London’s Investment Programme, work that is being undertaken by LU and Tube Lines.
TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.

London Tramlink has no planned work this weekend. London Underground-The Bakerloo line has no planned work this weekend.
Cannon Street station on the District and Circle lines will be closed every weekend until mid 2012 for redevelopment works. Customers are advised to use Mansion House and Monument stations.
The Circle line will be suspended between Hammersmith and Paddington on Saturday for line upgrade work. Passengers are advised to use the Hammersmith and City line.
The entire Circle line will be suspended on Sunday for line upgrade work. Passengers should use alternative Tube and bus routes.
The Central line will be suspended between Marble Arch and West Ruislip/Ealing Broadway all weekend for track replacement work. There are three bus replacement services:
Service A: Willesden Junction (for Bakerloo line) – North Acton – Park Royal (for Piccadilly line) – Hanger Lane – Perivale – Greenford – Northolt. Service B: Willesden Junction (for Bakerloo line) – North Acton – Northolt – South Ruislip – Ruislip Gardens – West Ruislip.
Service C: Shepherd’s Bush – White City – East Acton – North Acton – West Acton – Ealing Broadway.
Passengers travelling from central London to North Acton and beyond should leave the Central line at Oxford Circus and use Bakerloo line to Willesden Junction and rail replacement bus services A and B (changing at North Acton for service C if necessary) to complete their journey. The last northbound Bakerloo line train leaves Oxford Circus at 00.23 on Saturday and at 23.47 on Sunday.
The District line will be suspended between Bromley-by-Bow and Upminster and between Putney Bridge and Wimbledon all weekend for line upgrade and track replacement work.
Passengers travelling to/from West Ham, Barking and Upminster should use c2c train services to/from Fenchurch Street.
Passengers travelling between Wimbledon and central London should use South West Trains services from Waterloo and Vauxhall.
There are five bus replacement services: Service A: Barking – Upney – Becontree – Dagenham Heathway – Dagenham East Service B: Barking – Dagenham East – Elm Park – Hornchurch – Upminster Bridge – Upminster Service C: Mile End – Bow Road – Bromley-by-Bow – Stratford – Upton Park – East Ham – Barking Service D: Wimbledon – Wimbledon Park – Southfields – East Putney – Putney Bridge Service E: Wimbledon – Putney Bridge
The Hammersmith and City line trains will not be stopping at Paddington station this weekend due to station improvement works. The Hammersmith and City line will be suspended between Whitechapel and Barking on Saturday and between Edgware Road and Barking on Sunday. Passengers should use alternative Tube routes and the District line replacement buse services A, B and C.
The Jubilee line will be suspended between Stanmore and Waterloo for line upgrade work.
Bus replacement for local journeys: Service C: Stanmore – Canons Park – Queensbury – Kingsbury – Wembley Park – Stonebridge Park (for Bakerloo line/London Overground).
Service D: Wembley Park – Neasden – Dollis Hill – Willesden Green – Kilburn – West Hampstead – Finchley Road – Swiss Cottage – St John’s Wood – Baker Street.
The Metropolitan line will be suspended between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate all weekend. Passengers travelling between Harrow-on-the-Hill and central London should use the enhanced Chiltern Railways service to/from Marylebone.
There will be a bus replacement service as follows: Harrow-on-the-Hill – Northwick Park – Preston Road – Wembley Park.
The Piccadilly line, Northern line and Victoria line has no planned work this weekend.
The Waterloo and City line has no planned work on Saturday. The line does not operate on Sundays. London Overground: Richmond – Gospel Oak
London Overground services will be suspended between Richmond and Gospel Oak on Sunday. Customers are advised to use the District line between Richmond and Gunnersbury. Rail replacement bus services will operate between Gunnersbury and Gospel Oak, calling at all stations except South Acton.
Gospel Oak – Stratford: London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday.
Rail replacement bus services will run, calling at all stations except Caledonian Road and Barnsbury. Shepherd’s Bush – Willesden Junction : London Overground services will be suspended between Shepherd’s Bush and Willesden Junction all day on Sunday. Valid London Overground tickets will be accepted on local bus routes 220 and 228.
Docklands Light Railway (DLR) :DLR services will be suspended all weekend between: Westferry – Beckton: Westferry – Woolwich Arsenal
There are two replacement bus services: Service A: Canary Wharf – Blackwall – East India – Canning Town – West Silvertown – Pontoon Dock – London City Airport – King George V – North Woolwich Ferry
Service B: Canary Wharf – Blackwall – East India – Canning Town – Royal Victoria – Custom House for ExCeL – Prince Regent – Royal Albert – Beckton Park – Cyprus – Gallions Reach – Beckton
