A few days left to complete your tax return and avoid a £100 fine

Time is running out to complete your self-assessment tax return online for the 2013-14 year.

If you’d like to avoid paying a £100 late-filing penalty, then you better submit your return and pay what you owe by midnight on 31st January, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has advised.

According to HMRC figures, last year London was the worst region for late tax returns in the UK.

“The days are counting down to 31 January. If you still have to send in your 2013-14 return, you need to take action now. The later you leave it, the less time you’ll have to sort out any last-minute problems,” said HMRC Director General of Personal Tax, Ruth Owen.

You can receive help and advice on filing your return by clicking here or by contacting the Self-Assessment helpline on 0300 200 3310.
