British Refugee Council and Migrant Helpline to provide advisory services for asylum seekers

Home Office has awarded grant funding to the British Refugee Council and Migrant Helpline to provide advice and guidance to asylum seekers. The new grants will start from 1st April 2014.

From that date the British Refugee Council will operate a Children's Panel (in England) to support unaccompanied children seeking asylum.

Migrant Helpline will provide independent advice and guidance about the asylum process to adult asylum seekers and their dependants throughout the UK.

The services provided by Migrant Helpline from April 2014 will replace current one-stop and wrap-around arrangements.

“We remain committed to ensuring that asylum seekers have access to appropriate advice and support and there will be no break in provision as we make the transition from the existing arrangements to the new,” Home Office said.
