Charities invited to bid for £4.5m funding for refugee resettlement projects

It includes £3m from European Refugee Fund, £1.5m in UKBA funding

Charities have been invited to bid for £4.5m European funding for setting up projects assisting in the resettlement of refugees through the Gateway Protection Programme.

The fund includes £3m from the European Refugee Fund and £1.5m in UK Border Agency funding.

According to the UK Border Agency, the proposed projects should last three years and should be involved in medical health assessments and travel arrangements for selected refugees to the UK.

Besides this, these should also be involved in sourcing and provision of accommodation; and up to 12 months casework support to a minimum of 100 refugees per year.
The closing date for applying for the funding is 21 April 2011.
