Immigration Minister interviewed by the public

Phil Woolas has answered the questions addressed by the Independent readers

01 December 2008. Minister Phil Woolas said he is seriously taking the critics of John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, but he insisted on "the right moral thing to do to have a fair and efficient immigration and asylum system".

The minister rejected any proposal of an amnesty for illegal immigrants and attacked again "the legal advisers and special interest groups that play the system to delay removals without justification".
